It is absolutely fantastic. I could not put it down when I was reading it.

Everyone I have recommended it to ends up loving it too.Tanyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08771036840040393991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-853207333094285361.post-38280366308886113522008-05-07T14:05:00.000-07:002008-05-07T14:05:00.000-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Tanyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08771036840040393991noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-853207333094285361.post-3270175019130243572008-05-07T08:27:00.000-07:002008-05-07T08:27:00.000-07:00What struck me was that about half of the 1* comme...What struck me was that about half of the 1* comments on this at Amazon were from non-CC's and made it plain that Hunt's polemic un-scholarship and sloppy writing were deeply embarassing to them.

I'm not sure how to explain to our non-CC sistren how much their using a source like this lessens their credibility in all areas.

Elena touched on this in "How Not To Witness", but it can't be repeated often enough.

Ix-nay on the Ack-jay Ick-chay, okay?Salhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13201226644704622876noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-853207333094285361.post-88601568038576840122008-05-07T00:02:00.000-07:002008-05-07T00:02:00.000-07:00You know, looking over her reading list for the ye...You know, looking over her reading list for the year, she seems to have a taste for the classics and non-fiction. I bet if we all put our heads together we can come up with quite a reading list for her. Not even one that teaches the truth about the Catholic Church, or even one more edifying or educational, just more varied, perhaps.

OK, here's my entry to start it off.

Men to Match My Mountains by Irving Stone. Most people know little about how the west was really won, this gives you an excellent overview of the history of the settlement of California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado.

And

Albion's Seed by David Hackett Fisher. The history of early British settlement in the US. Fascinating.

And as far as the classics go, I've worn through copies of The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton and A Room With a View by E. M. Forster. I'm also partial to Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday by John Steinbeck, but they may be a little modern for her taste. Which is why I'm not listing any modern fiction or recent history, no point in loading down the comments section.

Anyone else?The Knitting Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13056690785535492562noreply@blogger.com
