The future of this blog

I originally started this blog as a way to document my comments to Candy's blog, since she would not allow comments that tried to explain or defend the Catholic faith. I also started a boycott of her homemanagement binder in protest of how I believed Catholics were being treated on her blog.

In recent weeks Candy has change the theme and focus of her blog and I see no reason to keep this one going.

I will leave it up until labor day and then I will change the settings to invitation only. it will essentially be in a state of limbo, ready to be revived if the need arises.

In other words, I am perfectly willing to let my part of the feud go for now. I even took the boycott down on my main blog when I changed the template.

I reserve the right to bring this blog back if I find it necessary, but hopefully that won't be the case.

I have been very happy that Candy seems to have let go of her Catholic bashing. I hope that the change in her blog is permanent! And I have to ask the same question that jamesnbethany did ~ would you consider me for the invite list? :)

First Elena, thanks for always standing firm!

Can you also invite me once it's by invitation only? If so, let me know here and I'll send you my email address ;0)

You know, I was going to suggest that you were being a bit hasty. I mean, Candy has had her mom move in, had to totally overhaul the homeschooling schedule, etc. I figured she would get back to Catholic bashing when it came to mind again.

But I noticed that when she redid her webpage, she removed the nun's stories link, and her catholicism sidebar. Amazing! Any indication what brought this on? I mean, has she addressed you in any way?

Are the Gipp articles still on your other webpage? You should make sure those are still available via Google, just for people who try to find the book.

I would say her mother figures in PROMINENTLY to the articles being removed from Candy's page. PROMINENTLY.

Is her Mom catholic? Why would her mom have any say as to how her blog runs? I'm impressed if that's the case though. At least it's gone!

1st Anon here: Candy still has A Former Nun Speaks Out and Turning People Off God? on her left sidebar under the "Eternity" section. It is merely my observation that the 'boldness' of her claims against catholicism have vanished about the time it would take for her mother to query her on why she is on the computer and what she does on it. I would say Mrs. Brauer's kids, even, may have mentioned to grams that Mommy has a "blog". It's just the timing is too coincidental. As long as "grams" is living at the Brauer residence, all 'boldness' will be dormant. Once that situation changes....as Kelly has said..watch out!

I for one don't really care what caused the change, just that it has happened. She does a great job on the homemaking things and I hope she sticks to that.

Please invite me, too.

BTW, the nun story is still on her side bar and you can find her Catholic bashing, including her article entitled "Roman Catholic or Christian?" by searching her archives. (Just type in "Catholic".) So, while I'm pleased she removed the obvious anti-Catholic trash, I'm quite confident in stating that she hasn't had a change of heart.

Please put me on the invite list as well.

I have a question. I was a teacher, but I do not yet have children of my own. When we do have kids I plan to homeschool. Looking at her week, it doesn't seem like she spends more than two or three hours teachign her 7 year old. Is that the case, or am I reading it wrong? And if that is the case, is that usual for homeschooling that age?

Thanks

Annie,
That is pretty normal. When you are homeschooling, you are spending one-on-one with each child and not teaching a classroom of 15-30 students at once. As a result, the child learns much quicker and time is spent more efficiently. I've been homeschooling since 1995 and never spent more than 3 hours per day on one child. Most of the time it has been like 1.5 to 2 hours per child, per day. (This does not count their independent work time, however.)

Elena, please add me to the list as well once the blog becomes invite only. You have been such an inspiration. I have dared to creep back to Candy's blog since the rampant anit-Catholic bashing has stopped, and like you say, she is quite the homemaker!

Elena, I closed my blogger, yahoo, gmail, & other various accounts so please send me an invite to MoonStar@wi.rr.com. Thanks.

Anybody want to do Stephanieland ? Just kidding. Basically, she's saying if anyone observes their day of rest on any other day than Saturday they're worshipping 's'. Y'know. In case anyone is bored since Mrs. Brauer's not upsetting anything. Steffie calls Sunday 'babylon'. Just gotta love her. She's been in those mountains a wee too long.

I've been following this as well...interesting reading that's for sure.

I've been reading Stephanie's as well. You can see the progression toward more & more judgmental and self-righteous posts over the months. When I read about us babylonians this morning, I thought "yup, you are asking for it". She is trying to be like Candy, it is so obvious from her blog's path. I feel sorry for her that she allows legalism to override grace. How horrible to live as Christ never intended! We should pray for her.

I must admit, my antenna did go up when the whole "babylon" thing was brought up by both Stephanie and Candy. I was worried that it was just one step away from the Catholic bashing again. But so far so good. I really hope that it lasts.

And then she put up her currrent post...

She's decided true christians do not need to follow the ten commandments, is that what I'm reading?

While I'm here, is it just me or do a lot of the writers attracted to her spend a great deal of time criticizing, complaining about, and moving from church to church?

Well, in Stephanie's latest post which is a letter to Candy, she pretty much takes a page from Candy's book and starts with the catholic bashing.
