Is this for me? Can I post here?

That is a loooooong article on indulgences and obviously the author put a lot of work into it. It must be an important subject to her.

But I'm not going to read it.

Because I don't care that the RCC offers indulgences. The RCC can do whatever it wants to do. And you are free to believe whatever the Spirit leads you to believe.

What my point is, is that you claim the RCC does not sell indulgences. According to the first link you supplied (& my personal experience) a person can be given an indulgence as a reward for a donation. See, right here from that website it says: "Among the good works which might be encouraged by being made the condition of an indulgence, almsgiving would naturally hold a conspicuous place. . . . It is well to observe that in these purposes there is nothing essentially evil. To give money to God or to the poor is a praiseworthy act, and, when it is done from right motives, it will surely not go unrewarded."

To those of us who do not live in your world it looks like the RCC sells indulgences under the guise of charity. As in "No, I can't sell you one, but if you make a donation (wink-wink)..."

I find it interesting that it takes a whole book to explain how one article of doctrine works. Those of us who live under sola scriptura find our doctrine explained by verses from the Bible.

BTW I am a member of a Lutheran Church, therefore a catholic Christian. Not a Fundie nor a protestant like the Candylanders. (And as far as I know, there are no Lutheran televangelists. :-))

About a year ago I disagreed with Candy on a few things (KJV-only, comma Johanneum and the ten commandments) and found it frustrating that my well-thought-out comments (or diatribes) went unpublished or were edited to her advantage in Q&A sessions. I quit going to her site, but a few weeks ago I thought I'd stop by and see if she was still there. And wouldn't you know it, it was the day after the Sister Charlotte story. I wondered if the RCs were fighting back and a few mouse clicks later I found this site. Didn't plan to comment but I guess I was feeling argumentative the other day. :-)

God's Peace be with you. ><>

Oh. Well then let me educate you . The Catholic church does not sell indulgences. There are many, many ways to gain an indulgence that does not cost one red cent. There is even a book available at Amazon that explains how.

If you were to ever do actual research you would find scriptural references in the Handbook of Indulgences.

Those of you who live by sola scriptura to find your doctrines can't even agree on what those doctrines are or how to interpret them. I have a post planned on the false, man made doctrine of sola scriptura and we can discuss it then.

Well there is the Lutheran Hour - which I actually have seen and heard on radio before and actually enjoyed.

Well thanks for coming by. I also find it encouraging that this blog is getting out there despite Candy's efforts to censor all disagreements to her brand of Christianity. Thanks for letting me know Sue Bee

LOL! Sue Bee, I like your style. :)

From the Catholic point of view, I grew up in the Bible Belt, and often attended various services with my friends. Their churches often had things for sale for "suggested donation" or "freewill offering." The megachurch that my in-laws attend even had a coffee shop in the sanctuary that has prices, er, suggested donations, listed per item, complete with a cash register in case you need change.

So, put me in the "I don't see the difference" category.
