Insert eyeroll here

Thank you ex-Catholics for the great information you've been sharing with me.

HOw about thank you to the Catholics who also have been sharing information with you. Or is only the information you agree with welcome? If you wanted proof that Candy has a strong anti-Catholic bias it doesn't get more blatant than that.

They need the saving grace of Christ as well.

A devout, practicing Catholic will be the first to tell you that.

I have had a surge in Roman Catholic visitors to this site,

I know. This site and my other one have sent them to you. It would be nice to have a bit of acknowledgement of that but I won't wait on one leg holding my breath. Instead I guess I will just acknowlege your gracelessness and say, "you're welcome!"

and glory be to God I've gotten personal testimonies from many of them who decided to delve into God's Word for themselves, and have gotten saved and have left the Roman Catholic church. Praise God for more souls saved!

Kelly, quick - add this to your list of things that onemust do to be saved per Candy. Let's see, there was being in the minority, not being too sincere, now apparently leaving the Catholic Church - I'm sure I'm missing some!

Bible believing Christians are quick to call Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, etc. cults, but when it comes to Roman Catholicism, there's not much noise. There needs to be noise - a lot of it. Roman Catholicism is the biggest cult out there, and they are claiming to be Christian. The RC Church is not a Christian denomination. A quick comparison to RC beliefs and Christian doctrine makes this obvious.

That only works if you use Candy's measure of what makes a Christian. I'm pretty sure some Protestant denominations and the Orthodox wouldn't make the cut either.

Each day RCs are dying and going to hell,

LOL!! News flash, everyday there are some bible-believing, "born again" folks dying nd going to hell as well.

and they think that they are just going to purgatory, and that prayers and monies paid by loved ones for them will get them out quicker. There is only one exit from the Roman Catholic "purgaotry," and unfortunatly that exit leads to one place: The Lake of Fire.

Funny how this sola scriptura Christian sites her own doctrines that aren't found anywhere at all in scripture.

Prayer is needed for RC's,- but for the ones living.

Again, devout, well catechized practicing Catholics will be the first to admit that they need prayers.

On the same note I will put up a post later today as a committment sign up to pray the rosary for Mrs. Brauer in front of the Blessed Sacrament this month. It seems so appropriate during this month of the Holy Rosary.

It's too late for the dead ones.

Christians, don't give up. You're coming against one of the biggest (if not the biggest) of the great deceptions as warned about in the Bible.

chuckle... a agree with that statement, but no in the way she means it of course.

Now Candy is writing this of course because another Christian has challenged her to do so, but it's really an act of cowardice. If she really wanted to get into the trenches and "witness" to us, she would come over here and so so. She hasn't. Instead she has said this blog is not worth her time.

You know very well if Candy posted here you would start deleting her comments as you have mine and others just as a means of revenge. I really don't think there is any hope for you.

Yawn... you're so full of sour grapes dear you're starting to ferment!

Interestingly during the whole time I have been doing this blog the only comments I have deleted have been yours for being snarky and off comment.

Review the commenting guidelines in the side bar Amy and quit wasting my time.

Suggestion, Elena - Just leave the snarky and off-topic comments up. That way you can say you allow any comments AND we get to see the writers for how they really are.

Isn't there a quote somewhere, "By their words ye shall know them."? Or is it deeds? But then writing is a deed, so it would apply either way I think.

Erika S. said...

I agree with Annie C, we should let all comments stand and let people be known for what they write. I think people will see all the snarky stuff and think twice about the legitimacy of those who write in such a way.
Taking the moral high ground is a beautiful thing!

Tanya said...

I totally agree with AnnieC and Erika, I think there is great value in leaving all the comments up!

I would love for Candy to come to this site and post something in her own words that states the actual doctrine with which she disagrees and why and evidence to refute the doctrine. She can't so she won't. She'll just dig up another "former nun" or "former priest" or "former Catholic" story and repost it on her own site, swallowing it hook, line and sinker because it's what she wants to believe. She has ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST IN THE TRUTH!

Elena LaVictoire said...

The majority has spoken! The snarky comments stay up!

I do reserve the right to reroute off topics though - there's only so many rabbit trails and tributaries we can keep track of, but I'll try to open other posts if I have to redirect the off topic comments so those discussion can continue onward as well.

Thanks for the input ladies.

Interestingly during the whole time I have been doing this blog the only comments I have deleted have been yours for being snarky and off comment.

And now you have taken to outright lying. There are SEVERAL spots on this blog where the 'comment has been deleted by blog owner' message is posted in lieu of the comments, and you and I both know that they were not mine. You have deleted 2 of my comments. One because I called you on someting and you knew it, and one because you said it was off-topic (which proves you did not read it).

You gave me 'warnings' about my comments being snarky, but you cannot give any evidence of anything I said that was remotely close to that definition. It is an attempt to discredit me so that when you do delete my comments people will believe what you say about me IN SPITE of the evidence here that I have been respectful, thorough, and documented my info if it came from other sources, which meets all your posting guidelines.

You don't have a real argument against me, so you are going to invent one. You are now a liar and a hypocrite. And I have given plenty of evidence to the last in other posts that you laughed off or explained away, but you know it to be true in your own heart.

Amy,

I think the comments you've seen deleted have been deleted by the "author" rather than Elena. It is possible to delete your own comments after they've been posted.

I can't say for sure who's deleted the comments but, I don't think it's appropriate or fair to call Elena a liar when it is very possible that people have posted comments and then deleted them themselves.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

"Comment deleted
This post has been removed by the author.

October 9, 2007 6:31 PM"

This deletion was found under the post entitled: "People are coming here and reading!" There have been others I've seen as well and they all said deleted by "author."

Amy-
I have deleted my own comments as they contained so many typos that it was unbearable, a side effect of having a 2 year old sitting on your lap "helping" while you try to blog. So deleted by owner could have been some of my own comments. Sorry for that. :( The next time it happens I will post right after saying why I did it.

Elena LaVictoire said...

is posted in lieu of the comments, and you and I both know that they were not mine.

Nope. I can only remember deleting two comments. Both were yours. One was the snarky one-liner comment, and the other was a tangent on the deuterocanonical books.

You have deleted 2 of my comments.

Right - as mentioned above.

One because I called you on someting and you knew it, and one because you said it was off-topic (which proves you did not read it).

Well that's your view. The snarky one-liner was just unnecessary and in clear violation of the commenting guidelines. The other was starting an entire differnt topic on the deuterocanonical books (apocrypha) which was off topic (also see guidelines). It's very difficult to manage a busy blog like this and it is important to keep on topic as much as possible. The apocryphal books and the pros/ and cons regarding them deserve their own article. I just don't have time to tackle that now. Perhaps Kelly or Erika would like to.

You gave me 'warnings' about my comments being snarky, but you cannot give any evidence of anything I said that was remotely close to that definition.

Well let me be clear. Everytime you accuse me or any of the other bloggers or commenters here of being a liar, a hypocrite, or project that we are doing something because to be mean or hurtful, I consider that to be "snarky."

It is an attempt to discredit me so that when you do delete my comments people will believe what you say about me IN SPITE of the evidence here that I have been respectful, thorough, and documented my info if it came from other sources, which meets all your posting guidelines.

Two thoughts:
1. The first part of that sentence is exactly why so many of us here are upset with Candy. Because I understand that kind of pain, I have been recalcitrant to delete comments. As you say, only two of yours have been deleted and they are the only two out of all of the comments for and agains this blog that have been.

2. As moderator of the blog it's MY call whether or not they meet the guidelines. Be nice, stay on topic, and you shouldn't have any problems. If you want to explore a different topic, you are free to blog on it yourself, or perhaps you could ask Kelly or Erika to write something for you here.

4. You don't have a real argument against me, so you are going to invent one. You are now a liar and a hypocrite. And I have given plenty of evidence to the last in other posts that you laughed off or explained away, but you know it to be true in your own heart.

Be nice/ stay on topic/ review the guidelines = no posts being removed.

I'll leave this one as other commenters have requested that I leave them up.

However, I'm a human being Amy and I'm only going to allow so much disrespect in my own house. Tone it down.

I've deleted some of my comments as well, due to typos or grammatical errors.

I blogged on that topic here:

http://mdcalexatestblog.blogspot.com/
2007/09/catholic-bible.html

Just as a heads up, I'm packing everything up to put my house on the market next week, and moving to a new state as soon as the house sells. So, I will be scarce the next week or two, and then I'll probably be blogging again a bit until moving time hits.

I have tried to keep up with comments in the evening, but researching articles takes too much time.

Elena LaVictoire said...

I hope you have a successful sale and a quick move Kelly.

Kelly did have an article on the deuterocanonical books and the discussions morphed off topic to muslims!

Sophia's Virtue said...

The deleted comment Faithfull Catholic mentioned was me and I did it because there is no way to edit a comment that I know of. I fixed my typos and reposted right below it.

Kelly, good luck on the sale of your house! I just moved half-way across the country myself (from TX to PA!) and have been in our new home for only 2 days. We prayed a novena to St. Joseph before putting our house in Texas on the market and it sold in only 1 day. I hope and pray everything goes as smoothly for you as it did for us. I've been writing about our moving experience on my blog some lately. We were "homeless" all summer due to the quick sale of our house, lol!

(I use xanga, not blogger - www.xanga.com/mamatatiana).

Kelly-
Good luck with your home sale & move. I hope all goes well!
I know what it is like to move as since we have been married (14 years) I have moved 10 times and once over seas to Japan. :)

You are now a liar and a hypocrite.

Is a retraction or an apology forthcoming?

It never ceases to amaze me when some of these really anti-Catholic folks quote some former nun or former priest with regards to Catholic doctrine. I have met many nuns and priests who have been mistaken about Catholic doctrine. We have 2000 years of developed doctrine, it's understandable that laypeople, priests and even theologians don't have a handle on every aspect of Catholicism.

However, what disturbs me most of all is someone who is supposedly Christian, who, after being corrected on a certain aspect of Catholic doctrine, continues to espouse the same fallacies over and over. This is calumny and no Christian should be a part of it.

Case in point is the "worshiping statues" canard. The iconoclast heresy (the one still being promoted by some non-Catholic Christians, hereto referred to as NCCs for brevity) was put to bed by the Second Council of Nicea in the year 787.

For the honour which is paid to the image passes on to that which the image represents, and he who reveres the image reveres in it the subject represented.

Since it has been specifically laid out in church teaching both in word and document from the authoritative source, someone who believes they are worshiping a statue are not engaging in Catholic worship. It is pagan no matter what the person doing it chooses to call it.
