I'm on such a roll, but I have to do some shopping yet... but while I'm away please note that OUR comment section is up 365/24/7. We don't have to make a big deal about how we're saving it because keeping comments up and open are our policy.

Presumably you don't keep deleting your posts either?

Elena LaVictoire said...

LOL! That's right. We don't delete posts either.

I have deleted some of my comments though... I have to admit that I don't always spell check and I have come back and read my words and I am simply horrified with my incorrect spelling, lol!!

Well, Ladies, I have to admit, I am simply dumbfounded that all those Catholics, me among them, have been allowed to post on Candy's site. I particularly loved the final comment Candy made in response before closing out the com box on that particular post. (I wish there were emoticons available here.) Hopefully, Candy's not feeling she's bitten off more than she can chew with the decision to open the comments. I have a feeling that we will not see any posts casting aspersions for a while. Well, maybe I don't have a feeling, maybe what I have is hope.

prayzgod2- I deleted one post about 3 seconds after I mistakenly posted it in a moment of anger. It went out on blog fee so people were able to read it anyway. Please forgive me. I do not say that sarcastically, I say it with a completely humble heart, please for give me for posting in a moment of anger.

Faithful, I agree, I hope Candy doesn't get bombed with nasty comments, that is not right at all. I think that Candy is doing the right thing as we all do at our own blogs, we allow people to comment and we respond, it doesn't mean we always agree, but it opens up a dialogue and we can all learn from the other and for me that is what blogging is about. I have never had to delete a comment on my blog and the only way I would is if someone used profanity as my daughter reads my blog and I would not ever want her to read those things but if someone disagrees with me I always let them post, after all, this is an awfully big world and there is simply no way that people will always agree, so I do have to say "wow" to Candy for allowing people to comment, we may not agree with her views but she also feels the same about us... so it has to start somewhere and I pray that we can all learn from each other. Amen!

Didn't she allow Catholics to post some other time?

Let's see if my prediction comes true...

She will eventually delete all the comments and no one will be able to read them.

She will edit, reword and combine the Catholics' comments and questions and post them in a "q & a" post.

Then, she will preach the Gospel according to Candy.

Does anyone know what is up with the Copy of Candyland blog? I clicked on "prayzgod2" to see if it was Candy as her moniker is "prayzgod" and when I did it showed the profile and blog which is Copy of Candyland. So does anyone know what the deal is?

Tanya said...

I don't know, but I noticed that too - I figured it is someone who decided to keep copies of her posts since she is known for deleting them.

Blondie and Erika, I asked Elena and she doesn't know who prayzgod2 is either and if it is Candy, then welcome and feel free to join in the discussion.

Blondie, I agree that Candy "could" do as you have suggested but I hope she will take the high road, we will just have to wait and see and if she does as you have posted then her true colors will show, that's all we can do is wait and see but good point that's for sure.

KitKat said...

I have to agree with Blondie's prediction, but I am going to try to remain hopeful like Tracy. :) Perhaps she really is going to stop posting things like her fabulous "Catholicism vs. Paganism" article. I'll have to wait to see what happens before I believe that one. I truly hope that she is going to continue to allow folks other than her "amen chorus" to comment. Bravo to her if she does! I will gladly admit that my prediction is wrong in that case. :)

Riddle me this, Batman. How can it be that "you don't need to be a member of any earthly church organization" when the Bible tells us plain as day that Jesus established His Church? Why would He do that if He didn't intend for us to belong?

I know this is off-topic but, it keeps banging me in the head. Is this just what people say who have become dissatisfied with the human aspects of churches or the fact that the worship of God in those churches doesn't look or feel the way they want it to or think it should? I really am curious about this specific understanding or attitude. It's very foreign to me. Help me please lest I make some uncharitable presumptions about this particular notion and those who hold to it.

Faithful Catholic,

I can't claim to know anyone's mind, but I guess what I would mean by that statement is that just going to a church doesn't make one a Christian. I (and my husband )come from a whole family of people who GO to church then don't follow a thing the Bible says. They claim to be Catholic, but don't seem to follow what their church teaches.
Does that make sense? I'm on the tail end of a horrific migraine and my brain is fuzzy.

ann nonymous said...

Rebecca,

Yes, your reply makes sense. I see things like that all the time. I believe there are many, many people who make claims about things they don't live out in their lives. I see lots of Catholics like that as well, both public and private figures. I've even belonged to a couple parishes where our Catholic doctrine seemed to me to be somewhat distorted. It's disheartening but, it didn't cause me to leave the Church because I believe the Church was and is a gift to us from Christ to help us live in Him. I think it's important to be able to separate the problems that humans can create within the Church from doctrinal issues. People are human and make mistakes. I won't let another human or humans drive me away from what I consider my home on earth. See what I mean? I won't reject the Church because of the erroneous actions of men. Sometimes I think when people are willing to turn away it lends credence to those who through their actions would dismantle the doctrine or change it to fill their own desires. If all the dissenters eventually leave, what's left but those who believe they are doing what's right? I personally witnessed some crazy shenanigans in our parish post Vatican II but, things eventually settled back down and the illicit practices were cast aside. That, to me, is the beauty of our Church, that with all the changes that men have been through, the doctrine remains as strong as ever. The Truth does not change. I see lots of groups splitting off and starting their own churches in their own "images" if you will, which I think is a pretty dangerous thing for a multitude of reasons. It's a big concern of mine.

Anyway, sorry this was so long-winded. I appreciate your answer to my question. I'm praying we'll all find our way. God bless you.

TO THOSE WHO DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS BLOG

OK this is REALLY bothering me, that so many non-Catholics cannot see what has been going on over the past few months. A little research and you can learn why this blog exists!!! I've been here from the beginning. I saw it all start when Candy began this entire thing with a very haughty, arrogant sounding post on her own blog in which she was addressing someone named "Elena" but not actually allowing any of Elena's comments to be read. Candy removed everything she posted later that day. I googled and found Elena's blog. Elena has this blog so she can comment on Candy's anti-Catholic garbage, since Candy will not allow these comments on her blog AND because Candy was trashing Elena's reputation by misrepresenting the things Elena was saying. Elena just wants the TRUTH out there. That's it!!! This is NOT about disagreeing. This is about lies and dishonesty. Candy brought this upon herself. No one is "picking" on Candy. I can see why so many of Candy's readers think we are attacking her. After all, Candy covers her tracks pretty well and at this point looks quite innocent. Anyone who is a new reader to her blog recently has no idea that she has, in the past:

1. Posted bits and pieces of comments by Elena and Erika, misrepresenting what they actually said. At one point, she allowed a comment of Erika's to be posted, but changed the url of Erika's homepage to link to an anti-Catholic website.

2. Has posted outright lies and misrepresentations of the Catholic church in lenghthy posts. It is clear to any well-catechized Catholic that Candy either has no clue about what the Catholic church teaches, or she purposely lies. We at this point believe she chooses to lie, since she has been corrected many times on the same points over and over, which brings me to number 3....

3. Has been corrected by a number of well-catechized Catholics, who have as a result not only did NOT get their comments posted, BUT were banned from making further comments on her page.

4. Has deleted many of her past posts, especially when people began questioning some of the things she wrote about. Eventually, she decided to do away with her archives all together. When she was nominated for the blog awards, she removed some very ugly, hate-filled posts about Catholicism that she had in her sidebar. These were not posts explaining why she disagrees with Catholic doctrine, but were posts in which she accused the Catholic church to be involved in Satanism and called the Pope the anti-Christ.

5. Absolutely REFUSES to engage Catholics in any sort of dialogue. This makes no sense if she truly believes Catholics are unsaved and "loves" them, if that were the case then she would be more than willing to dialogue. (The comments she recently left is the most dialogue I have EVER seen her attempt with Catholics, and honestly seems to be an attempt to convince the awards people and new readers that she is not anti-Catholic.)

6. Has at least twice posted a very long and detailed "auto-biography" which described her life from toddlerhood, and revealed a person who has felt most of her life has been spent running away from people who are following her or spying on her. She gave so many details in her "auto-biography" that I was a little confused when she later called herself a "private" person. Anyway, there have been some comments about her mental state by a few posters. I believe it is because of these posts that has happened, not as a way of attacking her, but of truly trying to figure out why she does the things she does. I think we all find ourselves very perplexed at her behavior.

There are plenty of blogs out there that are written by Protestants who disagree with Catholicism, but they are not anti-Catholic. They don't post lies and misrepresentations about the Catholic church. Why can't the readers of Candy's blog see that THAT is what we have a problem with. I don't get why they don't get it.

Well since I seem to be the only non-regular poster (besides prayzgod2) on this particular thread, was your post directed at me?
I "get" this blog, really I do. I think that Candy is OUT there and unfortunately people seem to think that she represents all fundamental Baptists, which she certainly does not. I have called her on the complete disregard she has for scripturally going to a brother with a problem instead of posting nasty lies about people and guess what! I'm banned too. I voted against her in that little blog award thing specifically because I think she's not a very gracious woman and I DON'T want people to think that she represents the denomination to which I belong.
I started reading Elena's blog because I find it a nice place to be. I read this one because I was curious. I answered FC's question because I know what I believe the answer is.
I guess if the only purpose for the blog is to talk about how much I hate Candy, well then I guess I won't be back. I just don't have room in my brain for that.

Tracy said...

Hate Candy? No way, I've never said I hate Candy nor has anyone who posts on this blog, I don't hate anybody (except Satan) do we hate having our faith bashed and misconstrued? Yes, we hate that but we don't hate Candy, we are sad and hurt and confused and feel bad that others seem so willing to take her posts as the truth.. but hate is a very strong word and I have Never said I hate Candy nor has anyone on this site... but I have certainly felt that Candy Hates the Catholic church and anyone in it... I don't understand Candy and I feel sorry for her but hate her.. no way.

Rebecca,
My post was not directed toward you at all. I actually started writing it under another topic, but that was way down on the bottom of the page and I decided to put just put it at the top so it wouldn't be missed. I ended up putting it here since this was the latest post last night.

I thought what I wrote explained the purpose of this blog. I'm not sure how you could get out of it that the purpose is to talk about hating Candy. ??? I have become frustrated with some people coming on here and thinking that we are a "Candy-bashing blog" when it is not that way at all. I was trying to make it very clear why this blog exists and what the purpose is.

Elena LaVictoire said...

If you search the archives more carefully Rebecca you will see that we actually clamped down on ad hominem attacks on Candy. That simply is not the purpose of this blog.

I have to admit that I was a bit confused by your comment blondie as it did not seem to be in conncetion with what had just been said but I thought it was very clear that there was no "hating Candy" involved.

Tanya said...

I have become frustrated after reading so many different comments about not understanding the purpose of this blog. I just wanted to make it clear to anyone coming here what was going on. I should leave that job to Elena. I am obviously not very proficient at explaining things. I apologize for the confusion.
