Propoganda for nitwits.

Another reason to keep away from Evangelical blogs, websites and forums.

Dave turned to the beginning of John's Gospel and read until he came to one of the best-loved verses in the Bible.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16

The profound simplicity of the verse grabbed Dave. He stopped, picked up his Bible, and went upstairs to show Barbara. To his astonishment, when he entered the room she too had stopped at John 3:16.

"Do you realize that if this verse is true," Dave said to Barbara, "it contradicts everything we know and believe as Catholics?"

This is just downright silly. Sheer ignorance about Catholic teaching just gushes forth from the writer's pen throughout this entire essay. It's almost comical.

Just another reason why blogs such as this one are so important.

unfortunately it's not a blog, but a business, Reaching Catholic's For Christ. I've read about people who are part of RCFC visiting Baptist churches to "explain" catholicism. They even have a radio programme.

If I remember correctly it is part of the Berean Church. A quick glance at their links seems would be interesting, too.

I couldn't make it all the way through that little story. For crying out loud, Mr. McCarthy must believe all Catholics are ignorant idiots. In the words of one of my former neighbors, "Ah well, ya can't shoot 'em so ya just gotta pray for 'em."

I see his name and just feel sick, his hatred for all things Catholic is depressing and sad.

Maybe if Dave and Barbara had continued reading to chapter 6 they would have recognized and realized the gift of the Eucharist and been grateful for their Catholic faith!

Amen to that, Elena!!!!

I'm sorry, I couldn't help but laugh. They had to go out and "purchase Bibles" (you know, because Catholics NEVER have Bibles!)...they went to Saturday Mass because Sundays were for football...goodness. I think I lost some brain cells just reading that garbage!

I can't help but seriously doubt the truthfulness of this. It seems way too much like propaganda and ignorance to me.

Anyone who has ever been near a Catholic Church would know it too.

I think the only people who take this seriously are people who already believe Catholicism is wrong and are looking for whatever they can find to support their beliefs.

No one with a brain in their heads, Catholic or not - any religion - could possibly consider taking this at face value.

Consider the source, and all that.

I think it's horrible that it is out there, because not everyone is going to look for truthfulness or validate claims before believing something.

But, I guess that can be said about anything. And, again, I don't think any one is going to change their heart or faith based on something like this. It exists entirely to make those who wrote it, and those who believe as the one who wrote it, feel better about themselves and their bigotry and hatred.

Or, we could think of it as a fantasy of what they'd like to think Catholics are, for likelihood of conversion success.

Who'd want to go up against an educated, faithful layman like Elena or Erika, nevermind a serious theologian?
They would eat the RCFC's for breakfast.
In the nicest possible way, of course...
