Candy's illness

Despite what some of this blog's detractors think, I truly never wish any harm on anyone, including Candy! Reading her entries (on bloglines) I am very concerned about her fever and hope that she will consider getting some medical care. On the other hand, I totally understand why she hasn't. We have been without medical insurance before and we have even had only Major Medical that didn't cover much of anything. It can be a scary time. As a mom, I was always reluctant to spend that kind of money on myself and I'll bet Candy feels similarly.

I'm sure all of us here at Visits to Candyland will keep Candy in prayer this week, asking for a speedy recovery to full health!

I, too, felt bad for Candy when I read that she was ill. This weekend I thought about her a lot and have been keeping her in my prayers. I had even thought of doing a prayer post for her. I think I'll go do that now. Won't you join me??

Oh my! Are there really people who think you or any of your readers wish ill upon Candy? That is very sad. They are missing the entire point.

Of course Candy is in my prayers. I am praying she makes a speedy recovery and that any anxiety she is feeling will be allayed.

Elena, I can also identify with your feeling of not wanting to use precious monetary resources on your own medical care when without insurance coverage. I have no medical coverage since I quit my job to care for my parents. I do have considerable anxiety about what would happen if I were to become ill and/or require medical treatment. I pray that this is not a concern for Candy.

I certainly hope that Candy is aware and understands that none of us who disagree with her theology wish her any harm. I've been praying for her for a long time and will continue to do so.

Prayers are going up right now.

Yes Faithful Catholic, there really are people who think the entire purpose of this blog was to wish ill upon Candy. That was never the case however.

I have read some of your struggles to care for your parents Faithful Catholic. It is a very loving and courageous thing that you are doing with your life and I will pray for you and your family as well.

I felt very bad for Candy reading her blog last night and hearing how sick she has been, I pray that she will have a quick recovery.

I don't know if it has anything to do w/her lack of insurance or not - being a military wife I have full medical coverage, which includes the cost of any prescription drugs, but I rarely go to the doctor myself. (We are not sick here often either.) Flu or cold symptoms or stomach upsets do not send me to the doctor. I can usually "ride it out" and find myself getting better within days. I don't have anything against doctors at all (and have several in my family) but I find going to the doctor a hassle usually unnecessary. And this is coming from someone whose mother hauled me off to the doctor if I ever so much as coughed or sneezed!

Anyway, I hope and pray Candy gets well soon. She is very blessed to have her mother living there and able to help with the children and meals.

A temperature of 104 degrees in an adult can be very serious. I pray Candy recovers quickly. There are three different flu bugs wreaking havoc in my area. I saw on our local news that a church in Oklahoma City closed its doors until this epidemic passes. I guess it is a small church with a lot of elderly members. So sad. Everyone take your vitamins and get plenty of rest!! Peace and Blessings.

Elena,

Yikes! I read that link and I am somewhat dumbfounded. It's dangerous business for people to assume they know the intentions of others or what is in their hearts. Suffice it to say that, while I acknowledge I have become miffed at some of the inaccuracies Candy has written about Catholicism and Catholics, I have not EVER wished her ill and I really don't believe that I've read anything here that would cause me to believe that you or any of your commentors have either.

I guess it's true that people will find what they are looking for. I am praying for the Lord to create in me a clean heart. . .

Tonight I will say extra prayers that my and your and all of our intentions will be received in the spirit in which they are intended.

Thank you for your kind words and your prayers for me and my family. They are truly appreciated. Lord knows, I need all the prayers I can get to continue to labor at keeping His fourth commandment. He truly answers all these prayers and is constantly faithful. God bless you and yours.

A high fever is not something to mess with. (I was sure she said 104 yesterday, but don't see that today)

I made my hubby go to the doctor a couple of weeks ago and it turned out he had pneumonia.

I have learned the hard way, you do NOT fool with your health!

I did not have medical insurance for a long time, but we have a clinic with a spend down, not the best choice but much better than nothing.

I think most communities have something of that sort.

Currently we qualify for the state insurance and I am so glad, too many health problems this year, I will be lucky to be insurable ever again.

Ah, you were following along on that conversation, huh?

She does seem to have trouble forgiving and forgetting. ;)

Yes apparently. And as she would never take anything that I have to say at face value, I opted not to say anything. I think it was the right call.

Elena -- that was very sweet of you...

thankfully we are military and are signed up for the prime insurance account through the military.. my parents have been without insurance for a while though and I know how tough things can be for them if someone gets ill...

God bless,
