Happy Anniversary

One year ago, I came across a little blog called keepingthehome.com and tried to leave a little comment. The rest is history! You can read my recollections here.

And for Candy supporters who don't get what all the fuss is about, Joy gives quite a summation here.

I like to think we have all grown over the past year. I certainly know a lot more about King James Onlyism than I did a year ago. I wonder what Candy has learned?

Is your "recollections" link meant to go to Joy's article?

Elena has the link fixed now, saved sinner.

I don't know if it's a happy anniversary or not. I'm glad that I've met you all, and had an opportunity to write for this blog.

But I'd rather there have not been a need for the blog.

I couldn't agree more with you Kelly, I feel exactly the same way!!

Don't know if anyone has been checking in with Candy since yesterday but her most recent post about updating her ebook had several comments challenging her and her assertions. I was surprised she allowed them to be published, and this morning she posted that she may have to disable the comments due to her being "busy" with something this weekend. Well, of course now the comments are all gone, a la' Candy. Glad I copied and pasted them before she took them down.

Oh well. So much for turning over a new leaf.

Kelly,

I just emailed them to you.

Some of the comments made to Candy were unwarranted and mean (in my opinion). I'm glad she erased those. They were embarrassing to even read!

On the other hand, I'm so glad that VTC is here. You ladies are very encouraging to me. You call a spade a spade, but don't get "down and dirty" about it.

Yes, I actually don't resent her moderating comments at all. Her website has a high enough amount of traffic that I'm sure she gets her share of trolls.

I just mind how much she moderates people who aren't trolls, but are politely asking sincere questions.

Preaching to the choir here, I know! ;)

Sorry Kelly, no I just copied and pasted it and didn't even notice the spaces! Sending it correctly this time...

I thank God everyday that I found this site. It came at a time when I developed an intense need to become more in tune with my faith. I have learned so much. I am saddened by the reason it was started, but this blog is a blessing!!

Sadly, I do not think Candy has learned anything at all. She compares my beloved faith to the "Whore of Babylon," makes false statements about the Catholic Church, accuses the Catholic Church of being a secretive cult while quoting from the CCC (!) and then explaining that she deletes comments that are not true - based on her personal judgment, I suppose.

I left a comment on her blog, but I expect it will be deleted. Hopefully she will decide to delete her vitriolic anti-Catholic post as well.

I feel very sad right now. How can right-minded people believe so many falsehoods?

Oh God, she's at it again.

She has a new post labeled "The Whore of Babylon." I haven't read it yet. I just saw the title... I can only imagine. Ughhhh!!!! OK, off to read.... {rolling eyes between pukes}

I was out all weekend (no internet) and missed out on the comments. Now apparently they were too embarrassing enough for her to remove AND make a blog post about it too. Must have been quite interesting. Hope somebody saved them so they can at least be addressed.

Oh, the things I miss out on when I can't get online. :-(

Heh, not only that but you might get yourself banned too.

She will probably remove her anti-Catholic post in a few days. She generally posts something extremely offensive to Catholics and then takes it down quickly.

What I don't get is why she is so hostile toward Catholics. We seem to get much more attention than anyone else out there.

NancyP said...

You know, I was trying to figure that out, and I can't. Why us? The closest I can get is that either something happened in her life related to Catholicism or that she is deliberately trying to get Catholics to stop reading her blog so she doesn't have to spend time deleting our comments. I can't speak for anyone else, but vitriolic attacks on Catholicism are the only thing that keeps me reading her blog - I already keep my home, my way - and I only go there to see if there's some way I can help bring the REAL truth to light.

Forget seeing anything being allowed past the filter, it seems she has renewed her iron curtain technique using the excuse of wanting her her blog safe from "false teachings" which would be Catholics and the Emergent Minded I reckon.

One thing worth serious refuting is this thing where her followers assert she can post what she wants on her blog. This is not true, you cannot write or speak anything you feel like under United Stated Law. When I had a book deal with a very right wing Christian publisher one of the things that came up in the contract was that nothing I wrote would cause a defamation of character lawsuit, and that I had not plagerized my work.

If you say or speak something untrue and/or insulting toward another person, then under the law you can be held accountable to explain yourself and be punished.

This is why people are always seeking to challenge her on the posts she puts up on her blog.

One other thing; the most recent posts are yet more proof that no matter how much she claims the opposite, she reads over here. She couldn't make it more obvious.

Well, actually, I believe she only reads the comments. I don't believe she actually reads the content. If she did, she wouldn't be able to continue posting her opinions and untruths about the Catholic church with a clear conscience.

Candy has labeled this a gossip site, and it's because she only sees comments of people who discuss her, rather than the posts themselves regarding the Catholic faith.

When you only look at one piece of a ten piece puzzle, it is next to impossible to put it together.

Nancy, I have actually asked Candy several times through her comments why she posts so often against Catholics, but not the Orthodox, Anglicans, or Lutherans, who share many of the same objectionable doctrines.

She publishes the comment, but hasn't given an answer yet.

That deleted comment was me. I got off topic and got onto Candy; I thought better of it.

Sorry.

I asked the same question - why attack the Catholic Church? - in the comment Candy didn't publish; I saved a copy of the comment, but it's not constructive to post it here. My questions for Candy and her readers belong in Candy's comments.
