Pope Benedict with President and Mrs. Bush at the White House

Isn't he supposed to be dressed in scarlet? Where's his fish god hat with "666" written on it?

I think we've been had!

Imagine that! Conclusion: Too much candy is not good for you.

Viva il Papa!

I found it amusing that the tulips that were planted on the white house lawn in honor of his visit were yellow, just like the flag of the Holy See and not red or purple. Hmm.

yeah, Kelly, he looks pretty harmless to me...

Every time I see her, I think how lovely it is to have such a gracious First Lady as Laura Bush.

Happy B-Day, Holy Father et multos annos!

Laura Bush is a wonderful, tasteful and gracious person. I was lucky enough to tour the White House at Christmas (with a friend who volunteers there) and heard nothing but complimentary remarks about our First Lady.

She has great taste in Christmas decorations, too. The National Parks-themed tree was just stunning.

We're having cake tonight (lemon yellow!) to celebrate our Holy Father's birthday. Tante auguri!
