Want to know what Candy is talking about?

Candy goes on quite a bit about "corrupted" and "uncorrupted" texts. Wonder what she's talking about? I covered that last summer at My Domestic Church: Chapter 6 Understandable History of the Bible.

Is it coincidence that this latest bible post shows up after the few Catholic Bible posts here?

She's been doing a lot of post/topic recycling lately. It is the beginning of a pattern.

Do you suppose if the only Bible I ever read is the NAB that my salvation is in jeopardy?

Speaking of Bibles. . . . have any of you all ever had a Bible or a book rebound? I am curious about the possibility of having my parents' big "family" Bible rebound as an anniversary gift. It is fifty eight years old and the leather cover, especially the top and bottom of the spine, is pretty tattered. I'm wondering whether or not it is worth having rebound or if I should just consider the wear and tear part of it's character. The other thing is I am somewhat leery of letting it out of my sight as I wouldn't want it to be lost or further damaged.

Perplexity, I absolutely think that we are going to see a lot of recycling. Feel free to e-mail me if you want to know why.

I knew a pattern was forming, and I had a hunch why.

She has yet again proven her predictability.

Please post your basis for the recycling here!

You were correct (see the latest on KTH), but pray tell, how did you know?!

Faithful Catholic, it is entirely possible to have them rebound, but it is staggeringly expensive if you are looking for high quality.

We're talking multiple hundreds of dollars, and a lot of time. Depending on the age of the bible and how it was bound originally. If you're looking to have something bound before about the 1950's rebound in the same manner for consistency, you'll really - really - pay.

You may want to consider something more along the lines of protective treatments to keep it from deteriorating further.

The Douay-Rheims is Candy compliant. Check out Luke 2:11 http://www.drbo.org/chapter/49002.htm

You have no idea how that made me laugh.

This is all just fascinating. I have had my own thoughts on the cycle of Candy's blog posts, but it's amazing how not only I but others here predicted what was about to happen.

Red, thanks for the laugh. I think we all need a little comic relief once in a while!

Well, don't I feel clueless! Could someone let me in on the pattern?

Perplexity,

Thanks for the info. I figured it might be pretty expensive. Maybe I'll go with the second option. Thanks again.

Given that there are only X number of anti-Catholic arguments, I can see how a bit of recycling could happen.
But a pattern? Is there a computer generated model for this?

elana: I asked my wife to email you, as i am curious to the pattern and have my own theories..not catholic but close friends who are...keep taking the high road in this endevour

It's not a computer generated model or anything scientific. It is just predictability.
