A record of the comments I make on Candy Brauer's KeepingtheHome.com Blog - just in case!
"There are not over a 100 people in the U.S. that hate the Catholic Church, there are millions however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church which is, of course, quite a different thing." Fulton Sheen
As in, "She's not listening so most of your points will fly over he head and be totally ignored."
I suppose she could say the same about me EXCEPT 20 or so years ago when I was making the decision about reverting to my Catholic Faith or not I looked at all of these issues with a "prove it"attitude towards the Catholic church. And the Catholic Church's case was so compelling it could not be denied.
Elena, why oh why did I let you lead me there? 45 minutes of my life I will never get back, and you and I both know arguing with Jennie is a waste of time. You did warn me a bit I guess.
i love how Jennie et al love to hold to the council of Trent but wouldn't pick up a catechism of the Catholic Church (the true norm) if you paid them. But yet she likes to tell US what the Catholic church "holds to." Unreal.
And yes, I am picking on her because I'm just feeling ornery these days.
What Protestants think Trent taught is such a red herring, an affront conveniently imposed, to prejudice one against honestly confronting Catholic teaching.
I'm pretty sure that my last response from yesterday was never posted, but as I mentioned in my unposted post, I really don't have any more time to waste over there.
Barbara, I have not ever deleted anything and comments should automatically come up, so if your comment didn't show up, please post it again if you want to.
If your comment was really long, it won't let you post it all at once, so if you didn't pay attention after you clicked publish it may not have gone through. Other than that, I don't know why it wouldn't show up.
Oh don't go quite yet Barbara, because I think Jennie has just about been fully exposed for what she doesn't know about the Catholic Church. I am also asking for a show of hands over there from Catholics who find the catechism "confusing and contradictory." So please, weigh in on that too!
I really don't have a lot of time to spend over there. And I don't want to risk being drawn into more of the debate.
The last post I made wasn't super-long, and it said that it went through. (I double checked because I didn't see my super-long post go through yet and worried that it had been lost.) I shouldn't have implied that Jennie purposely did not post my comment. I know that Jennie is not like that.
I don't find the catechism "confusing" or "contradictory", although I could see where someone could find it boring and tedious to read straight through. As a reference document, though, there is at least one searchable one on-line that can be used to look up specific topics.
Of course, some of our "separated brethren", tend to think that the catechism is a farce. Jennie even kind of intimated as much in one of the last responses I read over there...some comment about how the catechism might not say the Church teaches this but it really does.
So, I'll check in from time to time, but I really have other things I need to focus on.

I took me a minute to figure out whom you meant by the "I'm not listening" tag.

Which is why I remain a Catholic Christian.

I did not go . . .
Thanks for doing the heavy lifting Barbara.

I totally understand Barbara.
On the other hand, I'm looking for mental distractions right now!
