Mother's Rule of Life Update

There has been a terrible natural disaster in Bangladesh which the US military is responding to. My husband was recalled into work yesterday to start helping. He usually watches the children while I write my articles for the blog. I do not know when I will be able to finish chapter two since the trouble in Bangladesh seems to be getting worse.

Please pray for all of the people involved.

Question for those steeped in Roman Catholic apologetics (that's not a pejorative, I readily admit that I'm steeped in Reformed apologetics)

According to Roman Catholic teaching, is the submission of women a result of creation or of the fall? Can I get a citation?

Honestly Ellen, in Catholicism we don't worry about that half as much as ya'll do! Off the cuff, it seems that the emphasis is on wife being submissive to her husband, but the husband has the harder part of loving his wife like the church, i.e. he would die for her. I think with that in mind, it keeps both sides respectful of each other in a Catholic, Christian marriage.

In terms of ordination, I know that you don't ordain women. Fall or creation?

Our priest made what I thought was a very good point one time. That:

1) The submission of women was the result of the fall.

2) That our goal was to return to a state of being close to God, as we were before the fall.

3) If submission was the punishment, then equality, being the opposite of submission of any kind, was the correct, pre-fall/pre-sin state, as sin did not enter the world until the fall.

4) So that insisting upon the continued submission of women was actually following our sinful nature, and that striving for equality for all man, and woman, kind was trying to return to the original desired of God.

I hope that makes sense, I'm waiting for the coffee to finish...

blondie, I read Barbara's post, and find that I really look forward to hearing about her journey.

I've been reading Barbara's posts as well, looks like she is going to take some "flack" from the non Catholics, I hope plenty of Catholics will defend the faith to those who are trying to plant the seed of doubt in her head.

Tracy, a poster, keri, who has posted comments on Barbara's blog, has a website, but I was unable to post on her blog as she only takes email and not blog comments, and I prefer to comment on such blogs publicly. I can be sort of sarcastic, and I wouldn't want to hurt Barbara, so I am showing restraint in any comments to Keri.

Am i sniffing a little whiff of the "Barbara is being led astray and deceived by Satan into the Catholic Church" mentality in the last post?

OH YES, Aine, I totally agree with that, I can't believe the contempt these "Christian's" have for the Catholic church, I feel sorry they are so totally ignorant, very sad!! Poor Barbara, she is going to have to take quite the public lashing for her decision, I hope that she is able to withstand the awful pressure to cave in, it is not easy, I am praying for her all the time.

Hey Aine, I don't know if you have checked Barbara's blog but now there is an "Erin" and she is posting links to "John MacArthur" as in Mr. Anti Catholic.. she is quite the piece of work.
