The 2000 year Baptist Church?
Candy blogs today that the Baptist church dates back to the time of Christ. She might want to debate that with the Center for Baptist Studies. They are currently celebrating 400 Years of Baptist Heritage!

How odd when the Bible doesn't date back to the time of Christ! =P
Hmmmmm. I wonder what the Baptists of the first four centuries did to get by . . .
FYI: The Baptist TRADITION of water baptism dates back to the time of John the Baptist, but Baptists as a denomination did not exist then. The early church was non denominational with various sub groups existing within one body, such as the Ebionites, Jewish converts, Nazarenes, Gentile converts, pre-Gnostics, etc. Over time other sub groups developed such as Gnostics, Donatists, Marconites, Novatists, etc., some of which splintered off to form their own groups.
And yes, they did have a Bible at the time of Christ. They used the Old Testament.

Yes, I know that the CATHOLIC tradition of water baptism dates back to the time of Christ.
The bible of course as we know it did not exist 2000 years ago.
They also baptised entire families.... including infants.

I deleted my last comment because I realised it was mean. =(
All I wanted to point out was that the Old Testament which early Christians used included lots of books which are still found in the Catholic Bible today, but not in the Protestant Bible.
