A Catholic Kid, playing guitar - well.

I don't have any problem with digging treasures out of the trash, or Goodwill, or the value store. But if you're going to have an instrument for your kids, make sure they get at least some rudimentary training on the instrument so that they can learn to love making music. Getting a little OT here,(I'm a musician, all my kids play or sing something and DH repairs musical instruments for a living) but I think the latest post warranted it! That was awful.

Making music doesn't mean they have to have tuned in instruments or perfect instruments..look at the guys who use trash cans! It sounds awesome!

It sounds awesome because those musicians are highly skilled and put a lot of time, thought, experience and practice into their performance.

STOMP

Key word: practice. So perhaps in time Candy will be good..you have to start somewhere yes?

Elena, what song is this girl singing?

I believe the name of the piece is "Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God."

"We found these pencils in the trash. They don't have a point on them, but we're letting thechildren try to write with them. Sure they'll tear holes in the paper and the kids won't learn to write, but they'll get the idea.

I found this bike in the garbage. It doesn't have a front wheel, but the kids should get the gist, despite the flat back wheel too."

It's REALLY hard to learn an instrument on one that isn't working well. Buy some strings for $10, get a book for $5, learn how to tune it and play some chords.

I do believe Candy said she had just gotten it. And she is now watching a video on how to play..I'm quite certain she'll get the strings to it.

I truly don't understand what your deal is with Candy, yes I can see defending your faith but when you nit-pick about everything little thing..that doesn't pertain to the meaning of this blog (remember you started it to keep track of the comments you leave on her blog to defend your faith), it shows your pettiness..honestly it does.

I think you're the petty one Beth. No peep out of you for months and months, on any of the meatier posts, but let one little post commenting that may Candy's guitar playing was inappropriate at best and you're all over it.

One little post..come now Elena..you've been constantly nit-picking. What is the point? Seriously, what is the point??? Your whole idea of this blog was to defend your faith and yet you pick and pick and pick at every little thing. As I said I totally understand you defending your faith (yeh the meatier things in which I didn't say anything because I UNDERSTAND!!!)..but to go after something as simple because Candy salvaged a guitar and was playing around with it? Gimme a break! Are you that uptight that you never goof around with things? Do you have a sense of humor? Lighten up! Geesh.

You lighten up Beth. This was simply a "gee whiz, might not be the best way to start your kids on an instrument" kind of post. You're the one making a big deal out of it.

I think you also might have us confused with a different blog.and ya know what Beth, if you can find me a blog that 100% all of the time throughout the entirety of its existence that doesn't post on other stuff once in a while, I'd like to see it. I have over 100 blogs in my reader and once in a while most bloggers throw in a post on something outside of their regular topic. Deal with it.

Of course I think when a popular blogger goes from a page rank of 4 to a page rank of 3 they might want to discriminate a bit more about what sort of blog posts they put out there. I'm just saying
